Why 1211 Works?

A famous jailbreak during WW2 happened in Assen, Netherlands where the Dutch Resistance liberated 30 prisoners on December 11, 1944 without firing a shot.
This is a famous part of Dutch history and can be found in history books as well as video documentaries. Below are photos of the then converted jail and the lane to which it is named.
